How did Alabama football look vs. the Aggies?

Alabama football already lost one game to a team calling themselves the Aggies. They were not going to make it two. After failing to score on the first drive, the Tide took over and dominated against the inferior New Mexico State team.

A win was expected, and a 50-point performance was a nice bonus. However, the performance was more about just winning the game. Alabama football wanted to give depth players a chance to shine, and they played new offensive linemen due to injuries. This was a learning opportunity, and the Tide took advantage of it.

As always, we need to grade Alabama’s performance with a weekly report card. After a tough game against LSU last week, there was certainly room for improvement.

This week will be different, however. Since so many backup players saw the field, we are grading position groups as a whole. That means that a starting unit that shined could still get a bad grade if the backups failed to perform at a similar standard. With that in mind, let’s take a look at how everyone did. We’ll start with the tight ends.

Tight Ends: B

Cameron Latu scored an early touchdown for Alabama football, and he had an overall solid day. Billingsley also scored a touchdown despite some saying he would not play in this one. However, he dropped an easy touchdown before this play that would have boosted the group’s grade.

For the starting unit, drops are becoming a genuine concern. They are running out of time to fix this problem.

On the bright side, Robbie Ouzts caught his first pass for the Tide. He mostly plays as a fullback, but he ran some routes as a backup tight end.
