Will another Alabama football player win the Heisman?

Last season, Alabama football saw the third Tide player win the Heisman Trophy. DeVonta Smith was the first receiver to win the award since Desmond Howard, and Alabama now has the last three skill players to win the Heisman.

This year has been a wild ride for Heisman voting, and it truly is anyone’s game at this point. Many of the frontrunners to begin the year have either fallen off or been benched. In fact, both of Oklahoma’s Heisman candidates have been benched for each other at some point this season.

This will likely be one of the closest Heisman races due to the lack of a frontrunner. That may be good news for both of Alabama football’s Heisman candidates.

As of right now, Bryce Young is probably the favorite to win the award at the end of the year. His season has been shaky at times, but he is the only early frontrunner who has lived up to the hype. That alone sets him apart, and he’ll have the chance to have a Heisman moment against the Georgia defense.

However, Alabama also has a Heisman contender on defense. Will Anderson is the best player in college football, and he proves himself every week. He is racking up sacks, but the outside linebacker does everything for the Tide’s defense. He can help in coverage and stop the run on the edge. Even when he isn’t the one getting a sack, he is impacting the play and forcing quick throws.

Last season, Alabama football had three of the top five Heisman candidates. They were all a part of the same offense. This year, the Tide may have two finalists again as Will Anderson and Bryce Young look to make it to New York.

Next. Will injuries be too much?. dark

Heisman votes are hard to come by for defensive players, but Anderson deserves them. We’ll see if he can win the award.
