Location: Coleman Coliseum, Tuscaloosa, AL

After two impressive wins at home to begin the season, Alabama welcomes an in-state opponent to Tuscaloosa in the South Alabama Jaguars.

The Crimson Tide are coming-off a 104-88 win last Friday night against South Dakota State inside Coleman Coliseum to start the season at 2-0. The Crimson Tide shot an impressive 48.8% from the field in the contest, while also having five scorers in double-figures led by 20-point performances from Jahvon Quinerly (26) and Jaden Shackelford (23).

The No. 14 ranked Crimson Tide come into this contest averaging 98.5 PPG across their first two games of the season, as well as shooting a combined 49.3% from the field (35.6% from three). Not only has the Crimson Tide gotten strong play from Quinerly and Shackelford as mentioned previously, but also from a few others in-particular such as Keon Ellis (16.5 PPG, 11 RPG, 3 APG, 2 SPG) and Darius Miles (12 PPG, 3.5 RPG).

South Alabama on the other hand comes to Tuscaloosa with a 1-1 record on the season, which includes a 64-58 road loss at Wichita State last Saturday. A back-and-forth contest throughout, the Jaguars were led by Auburn transfer Javon Franklin who added 18 points and 12 rebounds.

The Jaguars are averaging an impressive 80 PPG across their first two games of the season, while only allowing a combined 52.5 PPG to opponents. Not only is the previously mentioned Franklin a key contributor to this Jaguars team, but South Alabama also has multiple other SEC transfers who played within the conference a year ago such as Jay Jay Chandler (Texas A&M), Charles Manning Jr (LSU), and Tyrell Jones (Auburn), each of whom also play key roles.

The Crimson Tide started the 2021-22 season with two very-good non-conference opponents visiting Tuscaloosa, and welcome a third here. This could be a closer game than some may expect on Tuesday night, but the Crimson Tide should come out a winner in the end due to a late second half run.

Prediction: Alabama 82, South Alabama 65
