Alabama Football: Tide’s report card vs. Arkansas Razorbacks

Alabama football’s report card vs. Arkansas
Cornerbacks: D
At the college level, this is a failing grade for Alabama football’s secondary. If you simply look at the box score, you can see why the secondary failed as a whole. However, it is more than just the yards allowed or the points scored.
The Arkansas offense didn’t succeed as much as the score says. However, they won with big plays. These chunk gains and long touchdown plays kept the game close, and they were because of the corners and safeties.
Arkansas scored one touchdown where the receiver got behind the defense. I can’t remember the last time Alabama’s secondary let that happen.
Safeties: D+
To be fair, a few close calls went against the Tide. On one touchdown, the Razorbacks should have been called for a delay of game. On the fake field goal, DeMarcco Hellams ran into the referee. Still, there is only so much you can blame on the refs.
Coverage has been a weakness, but there were some missed tackles as well. This combination makes the secondary Alabama football’s greatest weakness, and it has become a liability. Alabama is banking on the offense scoring at least 40 points, and that won’t work against Georgia in the SEC Championship.
Now, let’s end on a high note with the record-setting performance by Bryce Young, the Heisman contender.
