Alabama football is becoming a quarterback factory

For the first few years of the Saban era, Alabama football could produce NFL talent at every position except for quarterback. Even when players like A.J. McCarron or Jake Coker won at the college level, the success did not translate to a starting NFL role. McCarron has made millions as a career backup, but Alabama didn’t produce starting talent until Jalen Hurts and Tua Tagovailoa took over.

Now, three former Tide quarterbacks are starting in the NFL. Hurts is the guy for the Philadelphia Eagles, and Tua has taken over the Dolphins. Also, Mac Jones became the starter in his first game as a member of the Patriots, and the rookie looks the best so far out of all quarterback prospects from the 2021 class.

Not only are these players starting, but they are thriving right now. Over the past two weeks, these teams combined for a 6-0 record thanks to the production from the stars under center.

On Thursday, Mac Jones shined against the Atlanta Falcons. His numbers were not earth-shattering, but he brought balance to the attack as the Pats won by 25 points. Between this and a Bills loss, the Patriots are now first in the AFC East.

Jalen Hurts became the first quarterback in Eagles history to rush for three touchdowns in a single game. He scored every offensive touchdown as Philly beat the New Orleans Saints. The Eagles have a softer schedule, so they have a solid chance of making the NFL Playoffs.

In his first start since his injury, Tua threw for two passing touchdowns and led the Dolphins past the Jets. The Dolphins are still well out of the playoff picture, but Tua is proving that he can win when he is healthy. With the Dolphins struggling in his absence, these two wins are crucial as they try to end the year on a high note.

Once Bryce Young is in the NFL, the Tide will likely have four starting quarterbacks. Right now, these three are representing the Tide well.
