Alabama football’s report card vs. Auburn

Inside Linebackers: B+

Last week, we saw one of the best performances for Alabama football’s inside linebackers. The duo of Christian Harris and Henry To’o To’o has the potential to play like that every week. Harris can win in coverage, and To’o To’o is the head-hunter the Tide have been missing since Mack Wilson went to the NFL.

Alabama made some plays in the run game thanks to the inside linebackers. Overall, the front seven played a solid game. Given how important it was to stop the run and how pressured the defense was to perform, they did the best that they could.

Outside Linebackers: A-

We knew this group was deep to start the year, but it has been great to see them improve over the course of the year. Will Anderson has been the best player in college football. Even when Chris Allen went down with an injury, Dallas Turner and Drew Sanders stepped up. This unit will be stacked for the next two seasons at least.

Anderson’s sack ended Auburn’s first drive, which set the tone for the game. He impacted the run game alongside the passing game by rushing the backfield, but he also dropped back into coverage on occasion.

Anderson always brings pressure. Even if he doesn’t get the sack, he can disrupt a play on a regular basis. That makes everything harder for your opponent, and Alabama will need more of that
