Alabama football’s report card in the SEC Championship

Running Backs: B

Heading into this game, depth was a concern for Alabama football at the running back position. Most of the Tide’s backs are hurt, and Brian Robinson was questionable to play. The Tide were essentially down to Trey Sanders as the only running back who was fully healthy.

Still, Robinson had a solid day. He impacted the running game and passing game despite not being fully healthy. He attacked the greatest defensive line in the country and won consistently.

Trey Sanders also won on a few key plays. If you could’ve gone into the day with 100 rushing yards, you would’ve taken it. Alabama lived up to the challenge.

Wide Receivers: A

Jameson Williams was ejected in the Iron Bowl, and he wanted to bounce back against Georgia’s secondary. The Tide needed a big day from Williams to simplify things for the passing attack. Thankfully for Alabama football, he did just that. He opened up Georgia’s stout defense thanks to his speed and elite skills with the football in his hands.

John Metchie scored the game-winning conversion against Auburn. He played great before getting hurt in this one. At the end of the day, all that matters now is his availability for the College Football Playoff.

This duo is lethal, but the depth behind them also need to step up. If Metchie isn’t good to go, it is even more important for Alabama to develop the depth at this position.
