Alabama Game Tonight: Alabama vs. Tennessee Line, Prediction, Odds, TV Channel & Live Stream for Basketball Game Dec. 29
By Ronald Evans
Alabama Basketball returns to action tonight in Coleman Coliseum. The opening game of the Crimson Tide’s SEC season brings the Tennessee Volunteers to Tuscaloosa.
The two teams have a long history. Alabama and the Vols have played 151 times, with the Crimson Tide leading the series at 81 wins. The Vols have won just 19 times in Tuscaloosa. The teams met twice last season, with the Crimson Tide winning both games in the state of Tennessee. In early January, the Tide won in Knoxville and in March defeated Tennessee in Nashville during the SEC Tournament.
Tennessee is 9-2 on the season and ranked No. 8 in the NCAA NET rankings. The Crimson Tide, after losing its third game in its last contest has dropped to a No. 24 NET ranking.
Alabama Crimson Tide vs. Tennessee Odds: Spread, Over/Under
According to WynnBET, the Alabama Crimson Tide is a 2-point favorite. The Over/Under is at 148.5 points.
Alabama vs. Tennessee Prediction Today
The teams may be as evenly matched as the spread indicates, but they are trending in different directions. The Crimson Tide has lost two out of its last three games. The Vols are on a three-game winning streak and have won seven of their last eight games. The one loss was in overtime to Texas Tech in Madison Square Garden.
The astute Ken Pomeroy has the Vols at No. 10 and the Crimson Tide at No. 18. Even playing in Coleman, there are not enough reasons to make the Tide the favorite.
As strong as the Tide is at guard, Tennessee freshman, Kennedy Chandler will likely be the top perimeter player in the game. In addition, Tennessee has multiple players with size and bulk to challenge the Tide inside.
The matchup is not a good one for the Tide unless recent defensive effort is much improved. Alabama is expected to play hard and better, in a game that will not reach the over. Unfortunately, at this point in the season, the Vols have the edge.
The prediction is Tennessee Vols 72 – Alabama Crimson Tide 71
