Alabama Game Today: Alabama vs. Mississippi State Line, Prediction, Odds, TV Channel & Live Stream for Basketball Game Jan. 15
By Ronald Evans
Alabama Basketball returns to action Saturday afternoon in an SEC road match against the Mississippi State Bulldogs in Starkville.
The teams met three times last season with Alabama winning all three. The last one was an SEC Tournament blowout win with the Tide winning 85-48. Winning in Starkville does not come easy for the Crimson Tide. Prior to last season, Alabama had not won at The Humphrey Coliseum since 2017.
The Tide sits at 11-5 and 2-2 in SEC play. Alabama has lost its last two games and four of its last seven. An SEC road win would be a major boost. The latest NCAA NET rankings have the Tide at No. 23.
Mississippi State is 11-4 on the season and 2-1 in the SEC. The Bulldogs are ranked No. 47 in the NCAA NET rankings. The Bulldogs are 13th in the SEC with a three-point shooting percentage of 25.5% in SEC games. Their two-point success in SEC games is 3rd in the conference at 55.5%.
The Tide knows the experienced Bulldogs well. They are led in scoring by Iverson Molinar at 17.5 points per game and in rebounding by Tolu Smith at a 7.8 boards average. State is hoping Smith can return. He missed their last game due to COVID restrictions. Head Coach, Ben Howland uses a mostly nine-player rotation, with five guys playing 27 minutes or more. One of the four backups is former Alabama player Javian Davis-Fleming.

Alabama vs. Mississippi State Prediction
Ken Pomeroy rates the teams more highly than their NET ranking. KenPom has the Crimson Tide at No. 17 and the Mississippi State Bulldogs at No. 41.
The prediction is for a very tight game that will come down to execution in the final minutes. The Bulldogs force the ball to the basket and will put pressure on Charles Bediako and Juwan Gary to stay out of foul trouble. If the Tide duo can avoid foul trouble, the Tide can counter a very good rebounding Mississippi State team.
Game Prediction: Alabama Crimson Tide 74 – Mississippi State 73
