Alabama football is landing a stud in the Transfer Portal

With new rules surrounding the Transfer Portal, it is easier for college football players to move from one school to another. So far, Alabama football has dominated this new way of life. Last year, they landed the two best transfer prospects and turned them into immediate stars in Tuscaloosa. It appears they will do so again.

Eli Ricks is on Alabama football’s roster, but his talent is already known. He’s a stud defensive back who will start every game next season. The other key addition so far is running back Jahmy Gibbs. Gibbs may not be as well-known, but he will contribute next year for the Crimson Tide.

Gibbs is seen as a receiving back, and he dominated most receiving stats last season for Georgia Tech. However, he’s more than that. He is a bowling ball with elusiveness in the second level. He’s not afraid of contact, but he can still make a safety miss if he gets past the line of scrimmage.

Gibbs averaged 5.2 yards per carry and 13.3 yards per reception with Georgia Tech last year. That was when every defense knew he was going to touch the ball on every drive. He still dominated against opponents. He was second on the team in receptions and receiving yards despite still carrying the ball 143 times.

Alabama returns a loaded group of running backs, and Gibbs was still interested in joining the team. That shows that he has a reason to believe that he will see plenty of carries. The rest of the running back room will be interesting to watch, but I could see a tandem of Gibbs and Jase McClellan leading the charge in 2022.

Gibbs has strength and elusiveness. He will be the best pass-catching back on the roster, and he still has room to grow with his vision. He’s going to be a weapon for Alabama football next year.
