Alabama Football: Crimson Tide land Georgia transfer WR Jermaine Burton
By Matt Melton
After the Crimson Tide landed two of the top overall transfers available in former LSU five-star corner Eli Ricks and Georgia Tech running back Jahmyr Gibbs, Alabama Football has landed yet another transfer. Similar to Gibbs as well, this addition also comes on the offensive side of the ball.
Alabama Football lands Georgia transfer WR Jermaine Burton
The Crimson Tide have landed their third big transfer addition in Georgia wide receiver and former four-star recruit Jermaine Burton.
Entering his junior season in 2022, Burton has hauled in a combined 53 passes for 901 yards and eight touchdowns the past two years for the Bulldogs, ranking Top 3 in receiving for Georgia in each. Included across those two seasons were 497 yards and five touchdowns across 12 games in 2021 on 19.1 YPC, as well as a combined nine catches for 122 yards and a touchdown the last two season’s against the Crimson Tide.
Burton originally came to Georgia as a four-star recruit in the Class of 2020 out of Calabasas High School in Calabasas, CA. Rated as the No. 82 overall player in the country out of high school, as well as the No. 9 player in the state of California, Burton is originally a native of Atlanta, GA who spent his sophomore season in high school at IMG Academy (FL) before transferring to Calabasas.
Similar to Ricks and Gibbs previously, Burton is a massive addition for the Crimson Tide in 2022 as Alabama not only landed one of the top corners and running backs in the country, but also now one of the top wide receiver transfers in the country.
After landing instant-impact additions in the transfer portal last offseason in Jameson Williams and Henry To’o To’o, Alabama Football has done the same so far with Ricks, Gibbs, and now Burton. Could there be more to come?
