As the spring semester gets underway, the Alabama football roster is beginning to come together for 2022. With some key contributors departing, the Crimson Tide will need a handful of players to step up and play huge roles in the fall.

In 2021, Alabama’s two best players were true sophomores: quarterback Bryce Young and outside linebacker Will Anderson. Young and Anderson both return as the leaders of what should be an extremely talented and experienced 2022 squad.

For this team to become complete and reach its full potential, Alabama football will rely on a few members of the class of 2021 to elevate their play. The 2021 recruit that will most obviously play a major role is Dallas Turner. Turner was incredible towards the end of last season and had more sacks in his freshman year (8.5) than Will Anderson did (7.0). Despite only logging three starts, I would argue that Turner has already had his breakout season.

Of course, Dallas Turner is expected to increase his production as a full-time starter in 2022. Much of the Alabama football fan base feels like the sky’s the limit for Turner, and he could potentially have a sophomore season to rival Anderson’s historic campaign. However, Turner has already shown superstar capability and is already an established contributor to the Alabama defense.

Let’s take a look at three of his classmates that can make meteoric sophomore jumps.
