By Ronald Evans
Tuesday afternoon, the Alabama Football list of 2023 class is expected to increase. Virtually every college football recruiting expert to have offered an opinion has said 5-Star cornerback prospect, Jahlil Hurley will announce for the Alabama Crimson Tide.
Hurley plays for Florence High School in Florence, AL and he is but one of 10, state of Alabama players ranked inside the 247Sports Composite, Top 100, who are being targeted by the Crimson Tide. Based on his Composite ranking, Hurley is the fourth-best cornerback prospect nationally in the 2023 class and the No. 22 player overall.
Hurley has close to 20 offers, including other SEC teams, Auburn, Georgia, LSU, Tennessee, Florida, Texas A&M, Mississippi State and South Carolina. The lead Crimson Tide recruiters for Hurley are Freddie Roach and Travaris Robinson.
Hurley will be verbal commit No. 2 for the Tide’s 2023 class, joining 4-Star safety, Elliott Washington.
Some Alabama football recruiting insiders believe the Crimson Tide will end up signing as many as 10 recruits from the state of Alabama. That does not mean all 10 will be Top 100 players nationally, but most of them will come from that elite group.
The state of Alabama has so much talent showcased in the 2023 class, some long-time followers of the state’s high school players claim 2023 is the best ever.

Nick Saban will not land all the in-state, Alabama guys, but with the abundance of talent, Auburn’s dysfunction has put them at a big disadvantage. Saban will close many of them. A couple are likely to choose other SEC schools. If the Tide has enough room in the class, it is believed to be a strong position with Smith, Mitchell, Woods and Collins, along with Jahlil Hurley.
Jahlill Hurley is expected to announce his decision at 4:30 PM CST, Tuesday afternoon.
