Alabama football’s Calvin Ridley might be on the move

Calvin Ridley was one of the most productive receivers in Alabama football history, and he had a great start to his NFL career. Many expected him to take the leap as WR1 with Julio Jones no longer with the team, but Ridley took a leave of absence to work on his mental health. He did not return for the rest of the year, and he is now rumored to be on the trading block.

Ridley has plenty of value, and he would be great in the right offense. So, which teams should consider trading for the star wide receiver? These three teams should be on the phone with solid offers.

New England Patriots

Obviously, it’s easy to pair an Alabama football receiver and quarterback. While they were technically teammates in Ridley’s last year, Jones and Ridley never played on the same field.

That being said, the Patriots still need a WR1, and they’ve proven that they will take risks to figure out their receiver problem. Adding a reliable target who can get open would be great for Jones in his second season, so watch out for the Patriots to make an offer if Ridley is available.

Cleveland Browns

The Browns have invested at receiver, but they still need a top target. OBJ didn’t pan out, and Jarvis Landry might not stay in town. This would solidify the receiver group and give Baker Mayfield his best chance of holding onto his job.

Ridley can work in the slot or the outside, so his versatility is useful in this scheme.

Miami Dolphins

This makes too much sense. Ridley came from South Florida, so this would be a homecoming. He caught a touchdown in the national championship from Tua Tagovailoa, the quarterback of the Dolphins. Miami needs another receiver, and they’ll have the money to pay Ridley on his next contract.

Watch out for the Alabama football tandem to be lethal in the NFL. Ridley would thrive with Mike McDaniel as his head coach, and he has connections to the area, coaching staff and roster. If Ridley is on the move, look for Miami to make a solid offer for him.
