Alabama Football: Jerry Jeudy finally gets a quarterback
By Dakota Cox
We should see a boost from Alabama football’s Jerry Jeudy.
Since committing to play Alabama football, Jerry Jeudy has been hyped as one of the best receivers to ever do it. He was a steller star with the Tide as a part of the elite 2017 recruiting class, and he was taken in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft.
However, his production has been lackluster in his two seasons with the Denver Broncos. He suffered an injury in his sophomore season, which is part of the reason why he never scored a touchdown.
Jeudy has 19 games under his belt, and he is still under 100 career receptions and 1400 receiving yards. Part of the reason is because of lackluster quarterback play. Drew Lock hasn’t lived up to the hype, and Teddy Bridgewater was a fringe starter at best last season. Needless to say, Jeudy’s lacked consistency at the quarterback position.
The good news for the former Alabama football superstar is that he’s getting one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL. The Broncos traded for Russell Wilson. They gave up a trove of picks and players, but Jeudy remains in Denver with a reliable quarterback.
Wilson has thrown for at least 3000 yards in every season since being drafted, including four seasons with at least 4000 passing yards. He is more accurate with the deep ball, and he makes fewer mistakes. He isn’t perfect, but Wilson at his worst is better than anything Jeudy has seen in the NFL.
Jeudy still has room to grow as a receiver. He needs to work on his hands to avoid drops. However, he no longer has to worry about being missed when he gets open. If he wins on a route, the ball will come his way. That alone will boost his stats this upcoming season.
Jerry Jeudy proved himself with Alabama football, and he will prove himself again with Russell Wilson as his starting quarterback.
