Alabama Basketball begins its SEC Tournament title defense tonight in Tampa, against the Vanderbilt Commodores. Vandy began its SEC Tournament play Wednesday night by thrashing the Georgia Bulldogs, 86-51.

Vanderbilt finished the SEC regular season at 7-11. With the win over Georgia, the Dores are now 16-15 overall. In the one meeting between the two schools this season, the Crimson Tide escaped Nashville with a 74-72 victory.

The latest NCAA NET rankings have the Tide at No. 27. The Commodores are ranked No. 79.  KenPOM has the Crimson Tide at No. 22 and Vandy at No. 69.

While the Commodores have won only two of their last five games, the losses have been close. Along with the close loss to the Crimson Tide, the Dores lost by four points to Mississippi State on the road and four points to Florida in Nashville.

Alabama Crimson Tide vs. Vanderbilt: Spread, Over/Under

According to WynnBET, Alabama is a 6.0-point favorite. The Moneyline is Vandy +200 and Alabama -250. The Over/Under is at 149.5 points.

Alabama vs. Vanderbilt Prediction

Shooting threes and defending opponent threes are strengths for the Commodores. As Alabama fans remember from the game in Nashville, Vandy guard, Scottie Pippen Jr. is also adept at getting to the foul line.

The game should be an easy win for the Crimson Tide, though Vandy has long been a challenging opponent for Alabama teams. While Alabama should have learned from losses to Missouri and Georgia, to take nothing for granted, the Tide may be looking ahead to Kentucky.

Hopefully, the Crimson Tide will dispense with the Commodores by playing well throughout the game and setting a tone for Friday’s big matchup.
