Alabama Crimson Tide Women’s Swim and Dive team making history

Despite a disappointing end to the Alabama Crimson Tide’s football and basketball seasons, the women’s swimming and diving team just completed their most outstanding season in the history of the program by placing 4th at NCAA’s.

4th place finish for the Alabama Crimson Tide’s Women’s Swimming and Diving Team at the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championship Meet

Congratulations are in order for head coach Margo Greer, and her associate head coaches Ozzie Quevedo, and James Barber, and assistant coaches Reed Fujan, and Roman Willets.  Bama was the top scoring SEC team outscoring SEC Champions Tennessee and top perennial programs Georgia, Florida and Texas A&M.

The team was led by Olympian Rhyan White (200 back – 3rd, 100 back – 4th, 100 fly – 10th), Morgan Scott (100 free – 2nd, 50 free – 4th), Copa Dupre (100 free – 4th, 50 free – 5th), Kensey McMahon (1650 free – 3rd, 500 free – 7th), Avery Wiseman (200 breast – 6th, 100 breast – 9th), and Kalia Antoniou (50 free – 10th, 100 free – 15th).

The relays also swam extremely well!  Kalia Antoniou, Morgan Scott, Kailyn Winter, and Cora Dupree placed 2nd in the 200 free relay.  Diana Petkova, Morgan Scott, Kalia Antoniou, and Cora Dupre placed 3rd in the 400 free relay.  Rhyan White, Avery Wiseman, Morgan Scott, and Kalia Antoniou placed 4th in the 200 medley relay.  Rhyan White, Avery Wiseman, Morgan Scott, and Cora Dupre placed 6th in the 400 medley relay.  Morgan Scott, Cora Dupre, Kalia Antoniou, and Mela Delmonico placed 13th in the 800 free relay. Other swimmers and divers that competed extremely well:  Morgan Liberto, Tanesha Lucoe, Kailyn Winter, and Cat Wright. Congratulations to the entire team for their outstanding season!

The men’s team will travel to Atlanta this week to compete in the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championship Meet at Georgia Tech. The Alabama Crimson Tide men’s team will be sending six swimmers and divers and five relays to Atlanta to compete. Mohammed Farouk, Derek Maas, Matt Menke, Jake Marcum, Kevin Li, and Eric Stelmar look to join in making history this weekend in their shot at the Championships.
