Alabama Football Scholarship Tracker: Predicting one in and more out

After the subtraction of Agiye Hall, Alabama Football has 87 players on scholarship for the 2022 season. Technically, the number is far below that until the summer enrollees arrive.

Add Bama Hammer to numerous predictions, Vanderbilt transfer offensive tackle, Tyler Steen will announce soon and take the Tide scholarship number to 88.

No further additions or deletions are expected until after spring practice. Once the reality of spring allows players to better understand their playing chances in the fall, more will transfer out.

Players into their third season or longer in Tuscaloosa are most likely to transfer. It would not be a surprise if the Alabama football roster loses as many as four or five players after the A-Day game.

Potential Alabama Football Transfers

• The roster has 16 defensive backs. One transfer possibility is junior, Jahquez Robinson
• Among the 15 defensive linemen, redshirt senior, Stephon Wynn Jr. and redshirt junior Braylen Ingraham might prefer an opportunity for ample playing time or a starting role elsewhere.
• The Tide’s linebacker group is loaded with 15 players. Junior Demouy Kennedy would start on many other teams.
• Of the 16 offensive linemen, redshirt junior Tanner Bowles is like Kennedy, a potential starter on another team
• Unknown to anyone but the Alabama football staff, any other less than fully committed player might be urged to find a better fit.

If such additional attrition occurs, Nick Saban could not just add Tyler Steen but another tight end as well.
