Alabama Softball has an out-of-conference midweek doubleheader on Tuesday. The Crimson Tide takes on UNA and Alcorn State.

The most recent SEC outing for the Crimson Tide was a sweep of the Mississippi State Bulldogs. Crimson Tide pitching ace, Montana Fouts won all three games against the Bulldogs. In the series, Fouts threw 23 strikeouts and allowed just one earned run.

Fouts is the top pitcher in SEC play and all the others are not close. In conference games, Montana Fouts has thrown 105 strikeouts. Even combining the SEC’s next two top strikeout producers does not match Fouts’ total. Elizabeth Hightower of Florida is No. 2 with 54 strikeouts, followed by Madison Kerpics of Georgia with 48 Ks. No. 4 in the SEC is Crimson Tide pitcher, Lexi Kilfoyl with 44 strikeouts.

Montana Fouts has a total of 203 strikeouts so far this season.

The Alabama Crimson Tide pitching staff had led Patrick Murphy’s team. Check out the most recent SEC stats below.

  • No. 1 – Earned Run Avg. – 2.21
  • No. 1 – Fewest Hits Allowed – 208
  • No. 1 – Fewest Runs Allowed – 102
  • No. 1 – Fewest Earned Runs Allowed – 87
  • No. 1 – Fewest Home Runs Allowed – 19

Alabama Crimson Tide batting is not far behind. In SEC play, the Tide is No. 2 in runs scored with 94 runs, and No. 3 in the conference with a team batting average approaching .300; at .289.

In SEC standings, Arkansas has a small lead over the Crimson Tide. Arkansas is 11-4 in conference play with a winning average of 73.3 percent. Alabama Softball is close behind, with a 13-5 conference record and a winning percentage of 72.2 percent.

For the overall season, the Crimson Tide is 36-6 and is currently ranked No. 2 in the nation behind the Oklahoma Sooners. Arkansas, Florida and Kentucky are No. 7, No. 8 and No. 9 in the most recent national rankings.

After the Tuesday doubleheader, the next action for the Alabama Crimson Tide will be a trip to College Station, TX for a three-game series against the Texas A&M Aggies. The Aggies are 3-12 in SEC games and 24-17 overall.

Next. Even when not her best, Fouts is very good. dark

The post linked above was from earlier in the season, when Montana Fouts had a couple of tough outings. Incorrectly, a few Tide fans were saying she was trying too hard to strike out every batter.
