After seeing six players selected a year ago, Alabama Football is set to add two more names to their lengthy list of first round picks under Nick Saban in the upcoming 2022 NFL Draft. As for when those two could hear their names called, what are some of the potential landing spots for Evan Neal and Jameson Williams?
3 fits for Alabama Football’s Evan Neal and Jameson Williams in the 2022 NFL Draft
Beginning with offensive tackle Evan Neal, a legit argument can be made that the 6-foot-7, 350 pounder is the No. 1 overall prospect in the entire 2022 NFL Draft. Because of this, it seems like almost a guarantee that Neal goes somewhere within the Top 5 overall picks.
Evan Neal 2022 NFL Draft fits:
- Jacksonville Jaguars, No. 1
- Houston Texans, No. 3
- New York Giants, No. 5
Yes, it seems likely that the Jaguars will select Michigan defensive end Aidan Hutchinson at No. 1 overall. However, don’t necessarily rule out Jacksonville potentially making a surprise pick either, with Neal as one of the potential options should the Jaguars look at a different position with the top pick.
As for the other two fits, it seems likely that both Houston and New York will be the likeliest landing spots for an offensive tackle in the Top 5. While there is always the potential that Neal somehow slides out of the Top 5 due to teams in need of a quarterback trading up, it seems unlikely that the offensive tackle slides past the Giants at five if the draft order remains as is.
Looking at where Jameson Williams will be drafted however, the speedy wide receiver is still likely to be selected within the first round even after his injury in the national championship game. With this 2022 NFL Draft class loaded with first round talent at receiver, combined with which teams are in need of the position, it seems likely that Williams could be selected anywhere from picks 8-32 in the first round.
Jameson Williams 2022 NFL Draft fits:
- Atlanta Falcons, No. 8
- Philadelphia Eagles, No. 18
- Kansas City Chiefs, No. 29
While this is a wide range of potential fits for Williams, he could essentially be selected at any point within these picks. As for the earliest that Williams could be selected, it feels like the Falcons are the first team to potentially draft a wide receiver at No. 8 overall.
The Eagles could also be an intriguing destination that would pair Williams with former Alabama Football wide receiver DeVonta Smith, as well as the Chiefs potentially being a fit should he fall to late in the first round. As for other fits between picks 8-32, any of these teams could have interest in taking a wide receiver: Bills, Jets, Packers, Saints, and Texans
