Alabama football fans can again rightly claim the 2022 Crimson Tide has a tougher path to Atlanta than do the Georgia Bulldogs. Two recent sources show that and more about the 2022 SEC football season.

ESPN recently published a Way-Too-Early Top 25 and it includes seven SEC football teams. Alabama at No. 1, Georgia at No. 3 and Texas A&M at No. 5 again make the annual argument the SEC is college football’s toughest conference.

The other ESPN-ranked, SEC football programs are Arkansas at No. 20; Ole Miss at No. 21; Kentucky at No. 22 and the Tennessee Vols at No. 24. A previous ESPN ranking had South Carolina in the top 25, but the latest rankings excluded the Gamecocks. That will change in September if one of these early predictions comes true.

It is interesting to consider these rankings for how they compare to currently projected Over/Under win totals for SEC teams. WynnBET has at least one Over/Under that does not match that team’s ESPN ranking.

ESPN ranked, No. 20 Arkansas is given an Over/Under of 6.5 wins. Nine other SEC teams are given equal or higher projected win totals. They are the Alabama Crimson Tide and the Georgia Bulldogs at 11.5; Texas A&M at nine wins; the Tennessee Vols at 8.5 wins; Ole Miss, Kentucky and South Carolina at eight wins; the Florida Gators at seven wins and the Mississippi State Bulldogs at 6.5 wins.

Alabama football fans will enjoy a couple of the other SEC projected wins total, Over/Unders. The LSU Bengal Tigers are at six wins. The Auburn Tigers and Missouri Tigers are at five wins. As always, the Vanderbilt Commodores bring up the SEC rear with a projected win total Over/Under of just two wins.

If these Over/Unders accurately predict 2022 season results, two SEC head coaches will be fired; Auburn’s Bryan Harsin and Mississippi State’s Mike Leach. One more will see an abrupt end to a honeymoon period; LSU’s Brian Kelly.

Alabama Football vs. Georgia Schedule Difficulty

Again Georgia has it easier than the Crimson Tide. Even though the Bulldogs have the tougher out-of-conference game (based on the ESPN rankings) with No. 16 Oregon, the Tide still has a tougher schedule from SEC teams. The Tide not only faces one more ranked team in the regular season than does Georgia, one of its games is against No. 9 ranked, Texas A&M.

Next. Projected fall camp depth chart. dark

There is no reason to get churned up about any of these numbers, at least until fall camps begin. More roster changes will change the talent levels of some of the teams.
