What can we expect from Alabama football?
The Alabama football season is months away, but Tide fans have a solid idea of what to expect this season. After all, the Tide have made the College Football Playoff each year except for one since the format was established. Alabama brings back many key contributors from last year’s team, and they should be ready to make another run at the title.
Still, we can make some bold predictions regarding the upcoming college football season. Here are three of them.
3. Alabama will win a third straight Heisman Trophy
The Heisman Trophy is hard to win once, and Alabama football didn’t see a winner before Saban was hired. In his era, four players have won the award, including Smitty and Bryce Young each winning it back-to-back. This year, that will become a threepeat.
Young has the opportunity to be the second player ever to win the Heisman Trophy twice, but other candidates are on the roster. Jahmyr Gibbs should see the stats necessary to be in the running. Will Anderson will be the best player in college football.
I expect one player in this trio to win the Heisman Trophy next season, and we could see another year with multiple Heisman finalists.
2. Will Anderson will register 20 sacks
Anderson is the greatest defensive player Nick Saban has coached, and that is saying something. In two years, he already has 24.5 sacks to his name. I expect him to register at least 20 this season over the span of 15 games.
Every offense will focus on stopping him, but that hasn’t mattered yet. He was the clear disruptor last season, and he still registered 17.5 sacks. I expect more of the same in 2022.
1. Alabama will beat Ohio State in the National Championship
Right now, there are two teams that bring back enough proven talent to be considered elite. While teams like Texas and USC have high hopes and Clemson wants to bounce back, OSU and Alabama football are the best teams on paper.
Alabama will go through a daunting schedule in the regular season, and they will win the SEC West. They will then get revenge against Georgia, kicking them out of the College Football Playoff. They will then beat an inferior team in the first round before beating Ohio State to win its second national championship in three years.
