Auburn Tigers

  • The Auburn schedule gives Bryan Harsin a fair chance to open the season with three wins in September. Auburn will not beat Penn State in week three but wins over Mercer, San Jose and probably Missouri leads to a 3-1 September prediction for the Tigers.  The rest of the season does not offer Auburn many wins.

Texas A&M Aggies

  • The Aggies will beat Sam Houston State and Appalachian State in the season’s first two weeks. They should (but may not) beat Miami in week three. In week four, the prediction is a loss to Arkansas, to finish September at 3-1. While the Hogs lost most of their starting defense and Treylon Burks on offense, Sam Pittman has used the Portal to strengthen his team. The Aggies will take a step back offensively and defensively.

Tennessee Volunteers

  • The Vols will trounce Ball State in week one and do the same to Akron in week three. A week four win over Florida is also predicted, but that will not give Tennessee a 4-0 record. Instead, Pitt will trip up Josh Huepel’s team in week two. The Panthers have two huge holes to fill with exits by Kenny Pickett and Jordan Addison. With a returning solid offensive line and a deep group of solid running backs, Pitt’s strengths can take advantage of Tennessee’s defensive weaknesses. In addition, Pitt will have the better defense in the game. In a squeaker, Pitt outlasts the Vols giving Tennessee a September record of 3-1.

LSU Bengal Tigers

  • LSU will be favored in its first four games and those predictions will be correct against Florida State, Southern and New Mexico. Game three is Mississippi State in Baton Rouge. The Bengal Tigers should win, but this prediction is, Mike Leach will orchestrate a stunner, totally befuddling an LSU defense that can’t get to Will Rogers quick enough to slow the Bulldogs. LSU will finish September with a record of 3-1.

SEC Football September Undefeated Teams

Beginning the 2022 season at 4-0 will be the Alabama Crimson Tide, Arkansas Razorbacks, Georgia Bulldogs, Kentucky Wildcats, Ole Miss Rebels and the Mississippi State Bulldogs.
