It is almost crazy to predict an Alabama football undefeated season. Nick Saban has had just two undefeated seasons at Alabama, in 2009 and 2020 when the Tide played a shortened schedule. The last Alabama Football undefeated season before 2009 was in 1992, with Gene Stallings’ National Champions.

The prospects of an undefeated regular season are greater, but not so much so, to make predicting one foolproof.

Undaunted, this post is a prediction of an undefeated 2022 regular season. Of course, there must be disclaimers. No serious injuries to key starters could be one, but that is too broad. As far as injuries the only two disclaimers to issue are the loss of Bryce Young or the loss of two or more offensive line starters. Other than either of those two major mishaps, the Crimson Tide should be 12-0 after the Auburn game.

Three categories of how Alabama football will be undefeated

Category One: Blowout Games (more than four-touchdown wins)

  • Utah State will be the most competitive of the four games. The outmatched Aggies will still lose by five or so touchdowns.
  • Louisiana-Monroe will try to bolster its hopes with the history of a 2007 upset of the Crimson Tide. It will not help. The scoring margin will be in the six to seven touchdown range depending on how hard Nick Saban pumps the brakes.
  • Vanderbilt will be a tune-up game before the Tide travels to Arkansas. That means the starters will see more snaps than against ULM. Vandy will be better than ULM, but the game’s outcome will be similar.
  • Austin Peay is a pick-the-number game for the Crimson Tide. While the Governors may have some success through the air, their defense will be incapable of slowing the Tide – even with Jalen Milroe and Ty Simpson getting plenty of snaps. Mark down a five to six touchdown victory.
