During the spring A-Day game, Alabama had a hard time blocking Alabama. Can any of the 2022 Alabama Football opponents do much better? Let’s grade them for a projection of their chances.

The A-Day game showcased and exposed the two opposites of the 2022 Crimson Tide. The showcase portion was what may well be the greatest pass-rushing unit in Alabama Crimson Tide history.

The exposed part was the Tide’s offensive line trying to block their teammates. Those Crimson Tide defensive pass rushers are going to be a problem for every team in the SEC.

Slowing the Tide’s pass-rushing demons must start with every opponent’s offense’s tackles.

Texas Longhorns

Offensive line was a serious weakness for Texas last season. With a new infusion of talent, the group could be better in 2022, but that is not likely to be the case in week two when the Tide goes to Austin.

  • There are potential carryover starters at tackle in Christian Jones and Andrej Karic. One or both of them could start against the Crimson Tide. Neither has produced much in the past.
  • The best tackle for the Longhorns should be true freshman, Kelvin Banks. Banks was one of the best offensive linemen in the 2022 class but did not enroll early.

Offensive Tackle Grade: Not enough data to assign a grade, but in week two of the season, Crimson Tide pass rushers should cause the Horns constant problems.

Arkansas Razorbacks

Some college football experts project Arkansas to have the SEC’s second-best offensive line, behind Georgia.

  • Left Tackle – Jalen St. John (Sophomore) 6’5″ and 334 lbs.- St. John will have to hold off a couple of 4-Star freshmen
  • Right Tackle – Dalton Wagner (Senior) 6’9″ and 337 lbs. – Wagner will be the Hogs’ best tackle and though slotted on the right side, it is easy to see him moving to the left.
  • The two freshmen options are E’Marion Harris and Andrew Chamblee.

The Hogs will have a tough offensive line interior, led by potential All-American, Ricky Stromberg. They will be strong in the run game.

Offensive Tackle Grade: A, if a second tackle can step to the level of four other starters
