Texas A&M Aggies

  • Left Tackle – Reuben Fatheree II (Soph) – 6’8″, 320 lbs; As a freshman, played in 11 games, with nine starts. 2021 Coaches’ Freshman All-SEC Team; 2021 FWAA Freshman All-America Team; 2021, 4-Star recruit and No. 16, OT
  • Right Tackle – Trey Zuhn III (Redshirt Freshman) – 6’6″, 325 lbs; Played in four games in the 2021 season; 2021, 4-Star recruit and No. 20, OT

Offensive Tackle Grade: B

Tennessee Volunteers

Confidence in the Vols’ offensive line mostly comes from Darnell Wright being a potential NFL first-round pick. He made the SEC All-Freshman team in 2019, and for 2022 has been projected as high as All-SEC third team. The All-SEC projection is probably more accurate than the NFL one.

  • Left Tackle – Darnell Wright (Senior) – 6’6″ and 335 pounds. Wright is solid but stronger at run blocking than pass protection.
  • Right Tackle – Jeremiah Crawford (Senior) – 6’5″ and 315 lbs. This spot is up for grabs but former JUCO, Crawford should move up from a rotational role last season to a starter.

Offensive Tackle Grade: B

Mississippi State Bulldogs

The Bulldogs have highly rated sixth-year, senior, center LaQuinston Sharp. Sharp gave up only two sacks last season. However, his ability to handle inside pressure does not help much against edge rushers. The Mike Leach system of getting the ball out of his QB’s hand quickly helps his offensive line. Even in the Leach system pass protection from tackles matters, and the Bulldogs will take a step back at tackle after losing Charles Cross to the NFL.

  • Left Tackle – Kwatrivous Johnson (Redshirt Senior) – Johnson has no starting experience and is basically unproven.
  • Right Tackle – Kameron Jones (Redshirt Senior) – Jones is another career backup.
  • One of the tackle slots should be won by highly rated, JUCO transfer, Percy Lewis. Lewis is 6’8″ and 345 lbs.

Offensive Tackle Grade: C

LSU Bengal Tigers

  • Left Tackle – Will Campbell (Early enrollee, Freshman) 6’6″ and 310 lbs. No. 5 rated offensive tackle in the 2022 class
  • Right Tackle – Cam Wire (Senior) 6’6″ and 307 lbs.

A strong performance is expected from Will Campbell, but he is a freshman. The right tackle spot is unsettled. Whether it is Wire or another Bengal Tiger, it may not be a position of strength. LSU should be sound on the offensive line interior.

Offensive Tackle Grade: C, but if Campbell progresses quickly, the grade might be a B in November
