Alabama Football Game Three – Louisana Monroe Warhawks

Terry Bowden will have a message for his team that the program has a history of winning in Tuscaloosa. That 2007 game will mean little to his players.

Last year, in Bowden’s first ULM season, the team boosted its win total to four, after being winless in the 2020 season. The 2021 season actually looked somewhat promising after a 4-3 start, followed by an 0-5 finish. The closing thud was consistent with the program’s history. The Warhawks have won more than six games in a season once – ever – since becoming an FBS team in 1975.

Their pre-1975 history goes back to 1931 with the now Warhawks being a junior college team, the Northeast Louisiana Indians. On Sept. 27, they have only a slightly better chance of upsetting the Crimson than would college football’s best JUCO team.

The worst of ULM’s weaknesses is the offensive line. They will crumble against the Tide’s defense. The ULM defense is not as bad as the o-line, but they are not good either. For these reasons and more, a Crimson Tide onslaught will only be restrained by Nick Saban and limited work by most of the Crimson Tide starters. A team picked to finish last in its Sun Belt division must hope to not incur an embarrassment they will never forget.
