Alabama Football Defense

Defensive Line

  • First Unit – D.J. Dale (SR), Byron Young (SR) and Justin Eboigbe (SR)
  • Second Unit – Monkell Goodwine (RFR), Tim Smith (JR) and Jamil Burroughs (JR)
  • Possible rotation players – Jah-Marien Latham (RSO), Damon Payne Jr., (RFR), Tim Keenan III (RFR) and Anquin Barnes (RFR)

Before the end of the season, after impressive weight loss, freshman Jaheim Oatis could be part of the short yardage rotation.

Linebackers

  • First Unit – Will Anderson Jr. (JR), Dallas Turner (SO, Jaylen Moody (RSR) and Henry To’o To’o (SR)
  • Second Unit – Chris Braswell (JR), Keanu Koht (RFR), Deontae Lawson (RFR) and Kendrick Blackshire (SO)

The second unit group could well include any of the following linebackers, Demouy Kennedy (JR), Quandarrius Robinson (RSO), Ian Jackson (RFR) and Jihaad Campbell (FR)

Cornerbacks

  • First Unit – Kool-Aid McKinstry (SO), Eli Ricks (JR) and Khyree Jackson (SR)
  • Second Unit – Terrian Arnold (RFR) and TBD

Safeties

  • First Unit – Jordan Battle (SR) and DeMarcco Hellams (SR)
  • Second Unit – Brian Branch (JR), Kristian Story (RSO)

Star and Money

  • First Unit Star – Malachi Moore (JR)
  • First Unit Money – Brian Branch

Brian Branch might get the call in the nickel over Malachi Moore. In that case, a now healthy Moore would likely battle Khyree Jackson for the sixth defensive back slot in the primary dime formation
