The Alabama football roster is loaded with talented players. As a result, it’s a tough task to break down the best player on the team from every represented recruiting class. I decided to classify the best player as the player who I think is going to have the best season in 2022. To kick off the list, we will go all the way back to the class of 2017.

Alabama Football class of 2017: Kendall Randolph

The last man standing from the class of 2017 is Kendall Randolph. Randolph is the longest tenured member of the Alabama football roster, and could play a key role in 2022, his final season in Tuscaloosa. He has largely been a reserve offensive lineman for much of his career, but looks to get more playing time this season. Even if he doesn’t seize a starting position, he will be a key backup at several positions along the offensive line. Most of Randolph’s career snaps have come as a blocking tight end, beefing up the Alabama running game. He will also continue this role as a super senior.

Alabama Football class of 2018: Cameron Latu

Senior tight end Cameron Latu should have the best season of the remaining members of the 2018 class. Latu missed fall camp with a knee injury and may miss some games to start the season. When he returns, he should be a huge part of Alabama’s offense. He is the leading returning receiver and has the best chemistry with quarterback Bryce Young of any returning offensive skill player. Latu set a school record in 2021, catching eight touchdown passes from the tight end position. He looks to build on that in 2022, thriving as a chain-moving safety valve and a big-time red zone threat. Guard Emil Ekiyor and inside linebacker Jaylen Moody are also notable holdovers from the 2018 class that look to cement themselves as draftable prospects.
