Caleb Downs, future Alabama Football DB

His official position may be listed as defensive back, but Caleb Downs is a four-headed monster. Downs had a busy day as the Mill Creek Hawks took on the Walton Raiders taking snaps at running back, receiver, kick returner, and defensive back. The kid is a baller, and Mill Creek takes full advantage of his athleticism.

Downs started the game with a nearly 50 yard touchdown run playing running back.

He also had several catches for big first-down conversions. Later in the game, he picked off a pass and nearly took it back for six had he not gotten tangled up with his own teammate around the three yard line. That mishap loomed large in what was a back and forth game, but shortly afterwards on fourth-and-one, Downs took the direct snap and scored from the three for his second touchdown run of the day.

Downs has elite closing speed and supports run coverage as well as helping the secondary from his safety position. They can put him anywhere on the field, and he delivers. He is a playmaker who many consider a day one starter for the Tide next year.

Downs is the top player in the state of Georgia, and many consider him one of the top players in the country for the 2023 class. He was a huge get for the Tide as they battled with Georgia (near his hometown), North Carolina (where his brother plays and uncle coaches), and Ohio State. Downs will be an early difference maker for the Alabama Football secondary.

Next. Running it back means taking it back. dark

Georgia high schools consistently put out impressive talent, and plenty was on display in the opening weekend classic in Mercedes Benz. Alabama Football fans have plenty to be excited about as these players are on track to join the Tide next football season to make their name.
