Some surprise for Alabama football fans

Alabama football fans will likely be surprised, but when the Matt Hayes ratings are evaluated, the Alabama Crimson Tide and the Mississippi State Bulldogs lead all other SEC teams.

Bill O’Brien was ranked as the No. 3 OC by Hayes and Pete Golding was the No. 10 DC. For the Bulldogs, Mike Leach was No. 5 OC and Zach Barnett was the No. 8 DC.

Georgia came next with Will Muschamp and Glenn Schumann as No. 2 Defensive Coordinators and Todd Monken as the No. 16 OC. Following Georgia was Texas A&M, with Jimbo Fisher as the No. 12 OC and D.J. Durkin as the No. 14 DC.

The Tennessee Vols only had Josh Heupel ranked as the No. 4 Offensive Coordinator.

One other SEC, OC was ranked by Hayes; Florida Head Coach Billy Napier at No. 18. Other SEC, Defensive Coordinators ranked were Arkansas’ Barry Odom (No.12), Kentucky’s Brad White (No. 13), LSU’s Matt House (No. 18), plus Florida’s Patrick Toney and Sean Spencer (No. 19).

Since Bratton ranked just SEC teams, it is easier to mathematically calculate a ranking. Using 14 points for  No. 1 ranking, down to a single point for a No. 14 ranking, results for the 14 teams are listed on the next page.

Bratton’s rankings are close to Hayes for the Alabama Crimson Tide Coordinators. There is a big difference in how Bratton ranked the Arkansas Coordinators
