Alabama Football is a widely held favorite to win the 2022 National Championship. Fifteen games, some filled with considerable challenges are the obstacles the Crimson Tide must overcome. It will not be easy. It never is and it shouldn’t be.

Luck, primarily in the form of no serious injuries to top players at unfortunate times, is an uncontrollable ingredient. Nick Saban will try to control everything else. He can’t of course, but he comes closer than any other college football coach.

Late August is the peak of ‘we’re going to win it all’ season for many teams. That is also true for Alabama football fans, for good reason. Our confidence is viewed by some as arrogance. So be it.

In the format of this post and another one next week, I will provide 10 reasons for my confidence in another Alabama Crimson Tide National Championship. Not only do I expect another Natty, I am also convinced the 2022 team will be one of Alabama’s best.

Three Reasons for Alabama Football Success

1. Alabama Football Renewed Team Focus

Nick Saban never turns his attention away from the need to focus. When the Crimson Tide loses a big game, in the way it did against Georgia, Saban has a powerful teaching point. Saban explained recently,

"I think that we weren’t able to finish. One of the things you have to do to be a great competitor is when things don’t go well in a game, you’ve always got to be able to hit your chest, recenter, refocus your energy so you can play the next play. And being ahead, 18-13, with 10 minutes to go in the game, and then giving up what, 21 points or something in the final 10 minutes of the game, was really, really disappointing."

Weeks ago, Bryce Young was asked about his motivation going forward, after winning the Heisman. Young provided a two-word answer, “we lost.” That too is focus and plenty of Young’s teammates have it as well.

2. Best Two Players in College Football

It takes more than a pair of players to win a championship. But the Alabama Crimson Tide has the two best in Bryce Young and Will Anderson Jr. No other team comes close to the Tide duo

3. The top roster in CFB to pressure QBs and cover receivers

Adding Dallas Turner and Chris Braswell to the Crimson Tide pass rush, will either free up Will Anderson more or make Turner and Braswell almost as hard to stop. No offense can double team when all three are in the game. Add a little help pushing the pocket from the inside and the Crimson Tide will have the strongest pass rush in college football.

In addition, seven, maybe eight defensive backs are capable of high-level play. When the nickel and dime units settle in after a few weeks, they will be the best coverage units in college football. The returning experience of Jordan Battle will solve past assignment issues.
