4 former Alabama Baseball players ranked in MLB Pipeline prospects update
Connor Prielipp – Minnesota Twins
The lone Alabama Baseball player selected in the 2022 MLB Draft to be ranked in MLB Pipeline’s latest prospects update is Prielipp, with the left-hander coming in at No. 4 overall in the Twins system. Selected No. 48 overall by Minnesota in the second round, Prielipp has yet to make his professional debut.
Tyler Gentry – Kansas City Royals
A former third round pick by Kansas City back in the 2020 MLB Draft, Gentry comes in at No. 10 in the Royals system in the latest update. The former Crimson Tide outfielder has enjoyed an impressive 2022 season between the High-A and Double-A levels, slashing a combined .326/.428/.541 across 89 games with 18 HR and 70 RBI.
Dylan Smith – Detroit Tigers
Smith, a former third round pick from the 2021 MLB Draft, is now ranked as the No. 14 prospect in the Detroit Tigers system. The 2022 season is the first professional action for the right-hander, with Smith having posted a combined 3.84 ERA with a 72:15 K:BB across 75 IP between the Low-A and High-A levels.
Peyton Wilson – Kansas City Royals
Also selected in the 2021 MLB Draft by the Royals, Wilson is currently the No. 25 overall prospect in the Kansas City system, as well as the final former Alabama Baseball player currently ranked as a prospect. Wilson has spent the entire 2022 season with High-A Quad City, slashing a combined .251/.336/.428 across 74 games, along with 10 HR, 34 RBI, and 15 SB.
