- Utah at Florida – A tough opener in Gainesville for Billy Napier will not work out the way the Gators hope. Utah may not be more than a touchdown better in a road opener, but absent something bizarre the Utes will win.
- Memphis at Mississippi State – Mike Leach wants payback from a loss on paper to the Tigers last season. The Bulldogs had good reason to claim they should have been the winner. This season, the Bulldogs have the better offense and the better defense and should get the win.
- Utah State at Alabama – Forget about the Aggies having won 11 games last season. Anything short of a four-touchdown win by the Crimson Tide would be a shocker.
- Elon at Vanderbilt – The Dores easily move to 2-0.
- Georgia State at South Carolina – Another easy win for an SEC team in Spencer Rattler’s SEC debut.
- Mercer at Auburn – Mercer is not much better than Elon, so the Tigers should win easily. But the Auburn program is in such disarray, that their play may be sluggish enough to only gain a second-half blowout.
- Miami-Ohio at Kentucky – Mark Stoops had done an outstanding job in Lexington. I am pretty sure he will carry a ‘UK is a basketball school’ chip on his shoulder all season. The Cats will not need any added motivation in an easy win Saturday night. Not having Kentucky running back, Chris Rodriguez Jr. for the game will not matter.
SEC Football – Sunday, Sept. 4
- Florida State vs. LSU in New Orleans – Anyone claiming to know how good LSU will or will not be this season is lying. Predicting how well they will play in Brian Kelly’s first LSU game is just as hard. I am guessing the Bengal Tigers win on better talent alone, but maybe not by much.
That’s it SEC football fans – a great start to the season with SEC teams going 13-1 during Labor Day weekend.
