Alabama Football: 2023 wide receiver Jalen Hale Commitment
Alabama football received a commitment from 2023 4-star wide receiver Jalen Hale on Wednesday afternoon. Hale is considered by 247Sports to be the 51st best player and the ninth-best wide receiver in the country.
The Longview, Texas product is a long, wiry, athletic receiver at 6’1” and 185 pounds. He does not possess exceptional speed, but has tremendous ball skills and some very encouraging physical traits. Hale was long thought to be a Texas lean before eventually choosing the Tide.
Alabama Football: 2023 receiver class
He joins Alabama football and the top-ranked recruiting class in the nation, and gives the Tide much-needed help at receiver in the cycle. He is the third receiver in the class, alongside 4-star Cole Adams out of Oklahoma and 4-star JUCO product Malik Benson out of Kansas. The Tide also has a commitment from 4-star tight end Ty Lockwood out of Tennessee.
This is a solid group of pass catchers, and Hale might be the best of the bunch. Adams has impressed scouts with his speed and versatility, projecting as a slot receiver. Benson brings a lot of speed as well, and is the top-ranked junior college player in the country, regardless of position. Still, neither is as highly ranked as Jalen Hale.
Alabama Football: How does this group fit in?
This receiver class will assimilate into a potentially crowded room in Tuscaloosa, and one that still has a lot of question marks at this moment. Every wide receiver currently on the Alabama football roster could return in 2023. It is early in the season, but, as of now, none of the Bama receivers look like they will be high NFL draft picks next spring.
Regardless of who decides to depart via the draft or the transfer portal, Alabama will have a lot of depth at wide receiver next year. Jalen Hale, Malik Benson, and Cole Adams will do their best to compete for snaps when they arrive on campus.
The rest of Alabama’s 2023 class on offense looks very formidable. The Crimson Tide welcomes in two 4-star quarterbacks in Eli Holstein and Dylan Lonergan and two 5-star running backs in Richard Young and Justice Haynes.
It also introduces a loaded offensive line class that features five mammoth prospects in Wilkin Formby, Olaus Alinen, Miles McVay, RyQueze McElderry, and Raymond Pulido.
4-star receiver Jalen Hale gives Alabama football another dynamic piece in the 2023 cycle. He could be next in a long line of NFL receivers produced by the Crimson Tide.
