Alabama Football: Early betting line and prediction Tide vs. Aggies and other key games

Unsurprising to many Alabama Football fans, the Crimson Tide covered another spread last week, against the Arkansas Razorbacks. How the Crimson Tide covered was a surprise, because for more than half of the game the Alabama football offense was led by backup quarterback, Jalen Milroe.

This week the Crimson Tide is a heavier favorite over Texas A&M, with an added wrinkle resulting from the uncertain status of Bryce Young.

Texas A&M, following a drubbing by Mississippi State, is 3-2 on the season and needs a win badly. A loss for the Aggies might be a tipping point for a train-wreck season. Without a doubt, in terms of Jimbo Fisher, the bloom is off the rose in College Station.

Alabama Football vs. Texas A&M Spread Week Six

FanDuel has the Crimson Tide as an early week, 23.5-point favorite. The over/under is set at 51.5 points. The Moneyline is Alabama -2500 and Texas A&M +1100.

Alabama Football vs. Texas A&M Game Prediction

The biggest problem for the Aggies is they opened vaults and threw tens of millions to just an average coach. Jimbo Fisher, like Ed Orgeron and Les Miles, is proof ascribing coaching genius on the basis of a National Championship can be faulty.

Under Fisher, the Aggies have had success in recruiting top talent. The recruiting successes have not been matched by on-field performance.

The Aggies have some high-level talent, but not enough in all their position groups. Despite successive recruiting cycles of stockpiling highly rated defensive line recruits, the Aggies’ rushing defense is No. 11 among SEC teams, allowing 4.41 yards-per-rush.

Worse for Jimbo Fisher is he does not have a game-changing quarterback. His most recent starting QB, Max Johnson is expected to miss the game because of a thumb injury. Instead of Johnson, Haynes King will be called upon to trigger the A&M offense. King is probably more of a dual-threat guy than Johnson, but in three seasons the redshirt sophomore has more interceptions than touchdown passes.

Some Crimson Tide fans, thinking back to Zach Calzada’s freak performance last season, are wary King will suddenly have the magic needed for another upset. That is not going to happen Saturday night in Tuscaloosa.

Point Spreads for other SEC teams

  • Georgia is a 29.5-point home favorite against Auburn
  • Florida is a 10.5-point home favorite vs. Missouri

Next. No Bryce, no problem. dark

If a healthy Bryce Young plays, the Crimson Tide will easily roll to another week covering the spread.
