In the first half of the season, it appeared the annual big tilt between Alabama Football and LSU would be a mismatch. The Bengal Tigers followed an opening-game loss to FSU with some unimpressive victories, and then a blowout loss to Tennessee. At that point, the 4-2 Bengal Tigers were nothing more than an ‘others receiving votes’ team.

LSU’s fortunes quickly turned with victories over Florida and Ole Miss. The 6-2 Bengal Tigers were ranked No. 10 in Tuesday night’s first CFB Playoff rankings. The turnaround engineered by Brian Kelly is impressive.

The Crimson Tide is a clear road favorite. If for no other reason, Alabama’s history of success in Baton Rouge indicates picking the road team makes sense. Otherwise (based on the Playoff rankings) a No. 6 team, on the road against a No. 10 team, should be no more than a one-touchdown favorite.

Overall, LSU has more than enough talent to compete with the Alabama Crimson Tide. To Kelly’s credit, a massive transfer exit was remedied with incoming transfers. Not many weeks ago, frequent headlines about LSU claimed the team was being harmed by internal disputes. In particular, a couple of wide receivers were dissatisfied with their roles in the LSU offense.

Apparently, the squabbling has ended. A good reason why is the LSU offense, led by QB Jayden Daniels, has become less predictable. Daniels accounted for five touchdowns in the win over Ole Miss. He has moved beyond a one-read, QB who quickly decides to run. Daniels is a legit dual-threat QB.

Alabama Football vs. LSU Game Prediction

Crazy things are supposed to happen in Tiger Stadium on Saturday nights. Crazy would be an LSU win. But it may not come easy for the Crimson Tide. LSU has won three times this season, after trailing by double-digits. They don’t quit, and Saturday night that will be especially true.

The Bengal Tigers’ defense will cause the Tide problems. A key will be whether the Crimson Tide can have success on the ground.
