For Alabama Football and the Auburn Tigers, it is the 81st Iron Bowl week. Of course, the game has not had the Iron Bowl moniker throughout all the contests that go back to 1893. Some Alabama football fans believe the Iron Bowl name should have been dropped after the last time the game was played in Birmingham. That was in 1998, with the Alabama Crimson Tide beating the Tigers 31-17.

Since the games moved to the campuses in 1999, Alabama has won 12 times and Auburn has won 11. That record would not be so nearly equal if Auburn had not won six straight in 2002-2007.

Alabama Football vs. Auburn Spread Week 13

FanDuel has the Crimson Tide as an early-week, 21.5-point favorite. The over/under is set at 49.5 points. The Moneyline is Alabama -1800 and Auburn +920.

Alabama Football vs. Auburn Game Prediction

Auburn interim head coach, Carnell ‘Cadillac’ Williams has invigorated the Tigers. Auburn is 2-1 under Cadillac’s leadership, with the one loss in overtime to Mississippi State. The two wins came against teams Auburn should have beaten; Texas A&M and Western Kentucky.

Now Cadillac and Auburn go up against an Alabama Crimson Tide team they should not be able to beat. And they will not unless Alabama finds multiple ways to beat itself.

What is most assuredly the last game in Tuscaloosa for Bryce Young will motivate the Crimson Tide offense. Defensively, Alabama must thwart the Auburn running game. For the most part, the Crimson Tide defense has been stiff against runs.

Measured by completion percentage, Auburn has the worst passing offense among SEC teams at 51.9%. Late in the season, Auburn QB, Robby Ashford has become a better passer.

Across the entire season, the Auburn defense has been less than stellar. But since Williams took over for Bryan Harsin, Auburn has statistically been the SEC’s best defense, allowing 4.25 yards per play.

Alabama has a talent advantage to cover the game’s spread. But Auburn will provide a fierce battle. Alabama at its best will win a blowout. Alabama at less than its best will win, but less decisively. An early week guess is the game will feature Auburn’s best and Alabama’s less-than-best.
