Alabama Football: QB, RB and WR Early Signing Period prediction

The NCAA’s Early Signing Period is expected to undergo considerable changes before the 2024 cycle. It may even go away entirely. For Alabama Football, the December calendar has been tough because the Crimson Tide is so frequently preparing for a CFB Playoff game. The Alabama football staff gets stretched thin.

The staff is stretched again this cycle, though the preparation for the Sugar Bowl may not be as time intensive as a Playoff game.

It is estimated up to 80% of recruits will sign early and of those, almost all of them will do so on Wednesday’s first day. Alabama football and other schools will have surprises. The surprises are likely to bring more celebration than disappointment.

What follows is the first of three posts on what Alabama football fans can expect during the Early Signing Period. The first of three covers the quarterback, running back and wide receiver positions. It will be updated on Wednesday as signees roll in.

Alabama Football 2023 Quarterback

After Bryce Young’s exit for the NFL, the Crimson Tide is expected to have four scholarship quarterbacks. The returners will be Jalen Milroe and Ty Simpson. Added to the Crimson Tide roster will be two freshmen.

Eli Holstein, 4-Star and No. 9 QB in the 2023 class is already with the Alabama football team as it prepared for the Sugar Bowl. Dylan Lonergan, 4-Star and No. 11 QB will sign on Wednesday and begin his Crimson Tide career later.

Alabama Football 2023 Running Back

Though not yet confirmed, a trio of Crimson Tide running backs are expected to return for the 2023 season, They are Jase McClellan, Roydell Williams and Jamarion Miller. New to the Crimson Tide running back room will be 5-Star, Justice Haynes, ranked the No. 3 RB in the 2023 class and 4-Star, Richard Young, ranked as the No. 4 running back. Both Haynes and Young are locks who will sign early and enroll in January.

Alabama Football Wide Receiver

With several Transfer Portal exits, Alabama football has many openings to fill at wide receiver. Four new wide receivers will be added during the Early Signing Period. They include 4-Star, JUCO, WR, Malik Benson who is not only the No. 1 JUCO WR, but the No. 1 JUCO player as well. Benson is already working out with the Crimson Tide.

The other three 2023 freshmen are 4-Star, Jalen Hale, No. 7 WR and No. 40 player overall; 4-Star, Jaren Hamilton, No. 39 WR and No. 286 overall and 4-Star, Cole Adams, No. 42 WR and No. 305 player overall. All three will be January enrollees.

If there is a surprise addition on Wednesday, it will come at wide receiver. No defections will occur with the currently committed players.
