As the football season comes to an end, many Alabama fans are turning their attention to the hardwood with good reason. Coach Nate Oats has the Tide playing like a Final Four contender and recently made Kentucky look like a bad high school team. But there’s more than just the hardwood to get excited about, Alabama Baseball is set to kick off in February. The Tide is coming off a 31-27 season that saw them just miss out on postseason play. In his sixth season, Head Coach Brad Bohannon is hoping to take is hoping his squad can make the next step this season. The Tide dropped their 2023 schedule today, let’s take an early look.

Alabama Baseball Nonconference Schedule

Alabama baseball opens the season ranked just inside the top 50 according to the AP. The Tide have an interesting set of opponents in the non-conference to help them get tuned up for the meat grinder that will be the SEC. Alabama opens up with a solid Richmond squad that finished last season 30-26 in the home opening series. Alabama will look to escape the cold with a 3 game set in California against Pepperdine at the end of February and will finish the non-conference slate against a very good Columbia team that advanced to the Regional round of the NCAA tournament last season.

Alabama Baseball SEC Schedule

The SEC is always a tough baseball league. Nine clubs advanced to the NCAA tournament last season and five of the preseason top 10 teams reside in the SEC, including preseason number one LSU. Alabama will play all of the teams in the Western division and will match up with Kentucky, Florida, Vanderbilt, and Missouri in crossover contests. The Tide’s midweek games will be no picnic either. Sandwiched between home series against Mississippi State and Auburn is a midweek game against a Southern Miss squad that advanced to the Super Regionals last season. The Tide will make a tour around the state of Alabama playing neutral site games in the major Minor League parks. Alabama will face MTSU at Toyota Field in Huntsville, UAB at Regions Field in Birmingham and Troy at Riverwalk Stadium in Montgomery.
