Alabama vs. Oklahoma prediction and odds for Saturday, January 28
By Josh Yourish
The No. 2 Alabama Crimson Tide are cruising through the SEC. Nate Oats’ team is 18-2 and 8-0 in conference, though last time out they got a little bit of a scare from Mississippi State, but pulled it out, 66-63. Now, they’ll dive head first in the Big 12/SEC Challenge against Oklahoma. The Sooners are on a three game losing streak and last time out, got blown out by TCU, 79-52.
The 11-9 Sooners could certainly use a win against a top team like Alabama to bolster their resume, but Alabama isn’t interested in losing many games this year, so let’s check out the odds for this one.
Alabama vs. Oklahoma odds, spread and total
Alabama vs. Oklahoma prediction and pick
Alabama isn’t just a great team, they’re also great at covering the spread. They’re 12-7 against the spread this season, and their key to covering, especially as a favorite, is the pace that they play at.
Alabama is fourth in adjusted tempo this season and that makes them the No. 11 scoring offense even though they’re 49th in offensive efficiency. Brandon Miller leads the way on that end with 19.5 points a game, he’s one of the most impressive freshmen in the country.
Alabama is actually even better on the defensive end of the floor. They’re No. 10 in defensive efficiency. Oklahoma won’t be able to get enough stops to hold off Bama’s elite offense. They’re 158th in defensive efficiency. Grant Sherfield is the Sooners’ top scorer averaging16.4 points a night, but he and his teammates won’t get much against the Crimson Tide. Alabama allows their opponents to shoot 37.3% from the field and 25.9% from three.
