Alabama Crimson Tide football fans did not expect any surprises on National Signing Day, but Bama did manage to add one more commitment to its top-ranked recruiting class.

Alabama football landed 3-star Tuscaloosa product Sawyer Deerman on signing day. Though he is undersized, Deerman is a versatile skill player that could one day be a utility weapon for the Alabama Crimson Tide.

Former Alabama linebacker Demouy Kennedy, who entered the NCAA transfer portal in January, has signed with Colorado. Kennedy was formerly the top-ranked player in the state of Alabama in the 2020 class, but was stuck behind a logjam at linebacker early in his career. In 2022, he suffered a torn ACL and missed most of the season.

Demouy Kennedy finished the Alabama chapter of his career with just eight tackles. He never cracked the starting lineup on defense, but was a reliable special teams contributor and even played some running back in 2021. Kennedy still has a lot of talent as a linebacker, and will have the opportunity to revive his career with Coach Prime in Boulder.

Alabama Crimson Tide Football: NFL news and updates

Former Alabama linebacker Henry To’o To’o will no longer participate in the 2023 Reese’s Senior Bowl in Mobile, Alabama. Like former Alabama safety Jordan Battle, To’o To’o will not play due to injury. He totaled 205 tackles, 15.5 tackles for loss, and 6.5 sacks in two seasons with the Alabama Crimson Tide.

Alabama will still be represented by tight end Cameron Latu, offensive linemen Emil Ekiyor Jr. and Tyler Steen, defensive linemen Byron Young and DJ Dale, and safety DeMarcco Hellams in the Senior Bowl.

Former Alabama center Landon Dickerson is expected to play in the Super Bowl after suffering an elbow injury in the NFC Championship game. Dickerson, who starts at guard for the Philadelphia Eagles, wasn’t going to miss a game of this magnitude. Alabama Football fans will remember that Dickerson took the field with a torn ACL in the waning moments of Alabama’s 2020 national championship victory.

Former Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa also hit a positive milestone on his road to recovery. Tagovailoa cleared concussion protocol after suffering a head injury on Christmas Day over a month ago.

Considering Tua suffered multiple alarming concussions this season and has an extensive injury history, his future in the sport remains uncertain.

State of Alabama Crimson Tide Basketball

The Alabama Crimson Tide men’s basketball team was able to start what will hopefully be another long winning streak, running Vanderbilt out of Coleman Coliseum earlier this week. Alabama is now 18-3 and 9-0 in the conference, with some very impressive wins and only one bad loss.

The Crimson Tide’s resume would stack up well against anybody in the country. Nate Oats’ team currently stands alone in first place in the SEC and projects as a one-seed in the NCAA tournament.
