Greatest Alabama football undrafted player No. 8: Damion Square

Defensive end
Philadelphia Eagles: 2013
San Diego/Los Angeles Chargers: 2015-2020
Chicago Bears: 2021
Cincinnati Bengals: 2021
Las Vegas Raiders: 2021

Damion Square had quite a career with the Alabama football team and was indeed one of the best players on the Tide towards the end of his time in Tuscaloosa. That was demonstrated in the summer of 2012 when he was selected to the preseason all-SEC second team prior to his senior season. That season, he scored a career-high in tackles with 33 and another career-high with 3.5 sacks. However, the three-time national champion was not drafted into the NFL when his college career came to an end.

As an undrafted free agent, his professional football run didn’t look all that great at first. In 2013, he recorded just four tackles during his rookie campaign with the Philadelphia Eagles. He then moved onto the San Diego Chargers and continued to be little more than a backup for a few seasons. In 2016, he started to see starting time as a member of the Chargers and racked up 116 tackles and 6.5 sacks.

That career eventually saw him play 100 NFL games and start 25 of them. Though it is true the end of his NFL playing days was less than auspicious. In 2021, he played for three different teams in the Chicago Bears, the Cincinnati Bengals and finally the Las Vegas Raiders. It appears his playing career is now over as he didn’t get into a game in 2022.
