College Football: Latest odds Heisman QB contenders
By Ronald Evans
A new raft of Heisman Award betting odds is out. They could be of particular interest to Alabama football and other SEC fans. Wagering can be fun, but taking more meaning from the odds than their entertainment value can be a mistake.
Months in advance, it is a no-brainer for Caleb Williams to be the well-established favorite. It may also be possible to pick what other guys have the best chance to join Williams next December as Heisman finalists.
Taking the odds for literally dozens of players and using them to predict how those players will perform will lead to error. There will be good and bad surprises. With that caution in mind, a dive into Heisman odds is a fun off-season exercise.
According to Vegas Insider, the top five favorites are all quarterbacks. None of them play on an SEC football team, though one did before transferring.
- Caleb Williams (USC QB) +400 – Based on these odds, Williams will be a repeat winner
- Drake May (North Carolina QB) +1000
- Jordan Travis (Florida State QB) +1200
- Michael Penix Jr. (Washington QB) +1200
- Bo Nix (Oregon QB) +1200
