Coming out of Tuscaloosa is some great news, some good news, and potentially bad news for the Alabama Crimson Tide. Not all of the above has moved beyond a rumor stage, but even the rumors suggest they are generally tied to something real.
The absolutely hard news for the Alabama Crimson Tide is about 2024 Alabama football commit, Julian Sayin. The 5-Star recently trained and competed at the Elite 11 Finals in California.
The Elite 11 Finals included the nation’s top quarterbacks in the 2024 class. The event is commonly considered to be the top quarterback competition in the college football world. The quarterbacks compete for three days and the best QB over the three-day period is voted as the MVP.

Twenty other top-rated quarterbacks competed in the Elite 11 Finals, including Georgia commit, 5-Star, Dylan Riola.
The last Alabama Crimson Tide QB to win the MVP award was Tua Tagovailoa in 2016. Other former winners are Justin Fields, Kyler Murray and Trevor Lawrence.
Alabama Basketball and good rumors
Numerous Alabama basketball insiders are confident the delay in an official announcement of Grant Nelson joining the Crimson Tide, is no reason for concern. It is generally believed the announcement is being held until some clerical details are finished. Those details have been suggested to be the transfer of academic credits.
The other good Alabama Crimson Tide basketball rumors pertain to Jarin Stevenson. Stevenson is expected to make his college choice over the weekend, from three finalists; Alabama, North Carolina and Virginia. Tied to an imminent decision is whether Stevenson will reclassify to the 2023 class. Multiple Alabama basketball insiders are optimistic Stevenson moving to the 2023 class will mean him choosing the Crimson Tide.
At 6’9″, Stevenson is considered to be a player with the potential to be a near-clone of Noah Clowney. Adding Nelson and Stevenson would come close to meeting Nate Oats’ need for multiple bigs, after the departure of Charles Bediako.
The Tar Heels have established pull for Stevenson. He is from North Carolina and his mother was a UNC athlete. The Tar Heels have recruited him the longest and the hardest, but Alabama can offer more immediate minutes and a style more suited to his skills.
Alabama Crimson Tide ‘not good’ rumor
Apparently, Alabama football defensive lineman, Jamil Burroughs is in trouble with Nick Saban. The rumor is after a team-related incident, Burroughs is not currently with the team. There has been no official word, but Alabama football insiders speculate the seriousness of the matter could mean Burroughs will never rejoin the team.
Bama Hammer will provide more information on Nelson, Stevenson, and Burroughs as it becomes available.
