Alabama Football spent most of the spring slow-playing its 2024 recruiting class, as it does in most years. An elite program like Alabama enjoys the luxury of taking its time with the recruiting process, virtually hand-selecting the top talent it wants by the end of the cycle.

As July commences, Bama is really starting to gain momentum in the 2024 class. With the recent commitments of 3-star in-state defensive lineman Isaia Faga and 4-star cornerback Jameer Grimsley, Alabama’s recruiting class currently ranks 29th nationally.

Isaia Faga is a slightly undersized defensive lineman that is considered the 33rd best player in the state of Alabama. The former Utah commit is expected to rise in the rankings by the end of the cycle, but it is unknown exactly where he will land.

Faga will likely focus on gaining weight when he arrives in Tuscaloosa, and could eventually develop into a versatile contributor along a defensive front that prefers to utilize a lot of bodies.

Jameer Grimsley is a long and athletic cornerback prospect from Tampa, Florida. He is ranked as the 16th best corner prospect nationally, but has also been listed as an athlete.

In recent years, college football teams have really begun to value these taller and longer corners that can cover more ground and contest passes to a higher degree. Coach Nick Saban is no exception, as he has made a point to pursue prospects like Grimsley.

Although Alabama is not ranked highly with respect to its normal finish at or near the top of the recruiting rankings, there is a long way to go in this cycle and the Crimson Tide is picking up steam. Among its 10 commitments, Bama boasts three 5-stars and still has the highest per-recruit average ranking in the country.

This means that once again, Coach Saban is on pace to make yet another impressive run for the top spot in the final recruiting rankings. Teams such as Georgia, which has plenty of momentum in its own right and already has 22 commitments, will be difficult to beat out.
