Alabama Football continues to grow its 2024 recruiting class, and it did so on Saturday by adding a playmaking tight end in 4-star Caleb Odom.

Odom hails from Carrolton, Georgia and is considered a top-100 player nationally. The 247Sports Composite ranks him as the 4th-best tight end in the class of 2024. Presently, he projects more as a receiver than as a blocker, and could one day fill a role similar to that of current Bama tight end Amari Niblack.

At 6’5”, Caleb Odom has the length and athleticism to create matchup issues for opposing defensive coordinators. He is also a basketball player, which often translates to good ball skills and the ability to high point passes in jump ball situations.

Alabama Football currently has an exciting group of receivers in its 2024 class. 5-star Foley product Perry Thompson is the obvious headliner, and the Bama staff will continue to push him to stick with his commitment. Rico Scott is a 4-star receiver out of Pennsylvania who has more of the slot archetype.

Scott has good speed, and while he is adept at running short and intermediate routes in more of a possession role, he has also shown a propensity for making explosive plays. 247Sports National Recruiting Analyst Brian Dohn has previously compared Scott to former Crimson Tide standout John Metchie.

Caleb Odom and Perry Thompson would give Alabama Football two physically imposing pass-catchers that could line up on the perimeter and give defensive backs headaches. Bama will continue to recruit receivers, and likely wants to sign at least one more in this cycle.

The recent wave of commitments for the Crimson Tide, which began last weekend with Zabien Brown and Justin Okoronkwo before continuing with Casey Poe and Caleb Odom, has boosted Bama’s 2024 recruiting class all the way to no. 5 nationally.

Alabama Football still has only 14 commitments, which is far less than anybody else in the top 10. Expect to Tide to continue to rise as Coach Nick Saban and company fill out this class.
