Alabama Football got a verbal commitment on Friday evening from 2024 safety Dre Kirkpatrick Jr.

Kirkpatrick hails from Gadsden City High School in Gadsden, Alabama, and is the son of former Alabama and Gadsden City standout Dre Kirkpatrick Sr.

Kirkpatrick Sr. was a 5-star recruit and the no. 1 cornerback in the nation in the class of 2009. At 6’3”, he was a daunting presence on the perimeter that tormented opposing offenses during his time at the Capstone.

He finished his Alabama Football career with 91 tackles, three interceptions, and 16 pass breakups. He also registered three forced fumbles, a fumble recovery, and returned a blocked field goal for a touchdown.

Dre Kirkpatrick Sr. would later become the first round pick of the Cincinnati Bengals in the 2012 NFL Draft and has enjoyed a near-decade long professional career, having last played in 2021.

Dre Kirkpatrick Jr. is ready to create his own legacy. Currently ranked as a 3-star, he could climb in the rankings with an impressive senior season.

He joins 5-star cornerback Jaylen Mbakwe, 4-star cornerback Zabien Brown, 4-star safety Peyton Woodyard, 4-star cornerback Jameer Grimsley, and 3-star safety Rydarrius Morgan in a very deep and versatile secondary class for Alabama.

This group will follow an equally loaded 2023 defensive back haul, led by 5-star safety Caleb Downs. The future looks bright for an Alabama secondary that has had some struggles in recent years.
