Alabama Football: Making a cool $1M on the Crimson Tide
By Ronald Evans
Alabama football fans looking for a big payday early in 2024 can follow the lead of one, bold bettor. As reported by BetSided, $205,500 has been wagered through BetMGM on the Alabama Crimson Tide winning the 2023 college football National Championship.
At odds of +600, the payout, if the Crimson Tide pulls it off, would be $1.23M.
That is no mere pocket change, even for a football program that is most known for winning national championships.
Like many bets, it could prove to be a bold, but genius bet. Or it could prove to border on insanity. The Georgia Bulldogs, at +250 are given the top odds to win the National Championship. After Alabama at No. 2 are Michigan, Ohio State, LSU and Southern Cal.
There is room for debate but among those six teams that Alabama Football has the most demanding schedule and certainly more demanding than the Georgia Bulldogs.
Many college football experts have spurned the Crimson Tide in their preseason picks for the four CDB Playoff teams. That mood has somewhat shifted in recent weeks. The first high-profile guy to not only rate the Crimson Tide as a Playoff team, but also project Alabama as the national championship favorite was Kirk Herbstreit. Herbstreit stressed confidence in a Crimson Tide playing with “a chip on their shoulders.”
More recently, 247’s Josh Pate endorsed Alabama as the SEC’s best team by the end of the season.
"I think Alabama is going to win the SEC Championship. I think the Alabama team you see early on will not resemble that.… you have not seen an offensive line in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, play like the one you’ll see this year in a long time. That is the key behind everything this prediction revolves around. Style is going to make you doubt them early. I think it’ll ultimately make you believe in them late, and I think they’ll win the SEC Championship."
Alabama Football 2023 National Champion
In a dispiriting statement for Georgia fans, Pate predicted the Bulldogs, after losing to Alabama in Atlanta would not make the CFB Playoff. He has two Big Ten teams, along with Oregon and Alabama. Pate’s pick is Alabama over Ohio State to win the National Championship.
Is it time for Alabama football fans to jump on some other bold national championship bets? There is never a bad time to bet on the Crimson Tide.
