The last stages of college football’s talking season are filled with abundant bold predictions offered by just about everyone. I have done them for Alabama football seasons for several years. I am passing on all-season bold predictions this year. I’ll provide some game-by-game ones, starting with the Texas game.

Instead of the ‘bolds’ what follows are ten of what I am calling ‘things’ that are a combination of optimistic expectations and hopes, that to me can all become reality. It is unlikely every one of them will come to fruition, but they could.

I suspect Alabama Football to have some growing pains in key areas. So some of the ‘things’ are more about where the Alabama Crimson Tide will be from mid-October on.

Much of my optimism about the Crimson Tide can be explained by two facts. Alabama Football has the best head coach in 2023 (and ever, of course) and the Crimson Tide has the most talented roster in college football.

Alabama Football 2023 ‘Things’

  • All the offseason talk about being more physical and dominating opponents will happen – on both sides of the ball. There will be a return of “Make his ass quit” as Nick Saban implored years ago.
  • Opposite of a purported weakness due to lack of continuity, both new Coordinators will be a major plus for the Crimson Tide.
  • There will possibly be breakdowns early, maybe against Texas, Ole Miss and Texas A&M, but in the second half of the season, the Crimson Tide secondary will take the bite out of even the best passing attacks.
